Following on questions relating the dissemination of the IEM report and its overall goal to help consumers in making healthier choices with respect to the fat quality of their diet, the chairs of the IEM in Barcelona have written a letter setting the record straight. For the first time, latest news from the largest nutrition congress of the year (www.icn2009.com) held in Bangkok can be followed live via Twitter on www.twitter.com/theIEM. Traditionally information about scientific congresses is disseminated through expert journals and scientific publications, which appear months after the congress closed. This news is not only released with a delay, but is often also published in a highly technical language, which is hard to understand for the general public. Connie Diekman, M.Ed, RD, FADA, registered dietitian, and other experts plan to change this. On October 6th, 2009 anyone is welcomed to follow expert tweets on leading challenges in the nutritional arena in simple, unscientific language. Follow us on Twitter! On the 31st of July 2009 the proceedings of the International Expert Meeting (IEM) have been published in the Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism.
